FUE Hair Transplant

Tired of hair loss, baldness, hair thinning, and other hair issues? Trust FUE an advanced and innovative technique to restore hair.

What is FUE Hair Transplant?

Follicular Unit Extraction is a minimally invasive, result-oriented outpatient procedure. In this process, follicular unit grafts including a small number of hair follicles are eliminated individually from the genetically strong donor area and are diligently restored to the thinning areas.

What is FU and what is its role?

FU stands for Follicular Unit. It is a small bundle of hair featuring 1 to 4 hair follicles(fine or full thick hair), oil glands, connecting tissue, and muscles that support and accompany hair follicles. Using a microscope/ loop, the hair restoration specialist can effortlessly identify FU. It is widely used in hair transplantation.

How is FUE Performed?

Punch like circular scalpel plays a vital role in FUE. Using this, the hair transplantation specialist can easily score the skin as well as mid-dermis to somewhere around 2 millimeters around a follicular unit. Subsequently, the FU is gently extracted from within the scored circle. After this, the specialist transplant the FU into the scalp by inserting them into the small slits incised into the skin as well as underlying tissue using a needle or small blade.

Note: Single FUs are perfect option to fill in a hairline, and multiple FUs are a smart way to deliver higher density to the scalp centre.

Step-by-step Procedure Guide

Step 1: Infuse Sedative

A mild-acting sedative is given to the patient before stepping ahead to the operating room.

Step 2: Infuse Local Anesthesia

Give local anesthesia to the patient in the donor area.

Step 3: Remove Follicular Units

Using special micro punches of 0.8 and 1 mm size grafts are extracted from the donor area. These extracted grafts are well-preserved in cool Ringer Lactate solution. There are approx. 1,2,3 or 4 hair in each of the follicle.

Step 4: Preparation of Recipient Site

A patient is asked to lie down in the supine position. Local anesthesia is then applied to the recipient (bald) site.

Step 5: Implantation

The extracted hair follicles are implanted into this area. The hair follicles featuring single hair are implanted in the front to deliver natural look & feel to the hairline and follicles containing 2-3 hairs are implanted at the center to provide density.

Does Follicular Hair Transplant leave Visible Scars?

Follicular Hair Transplant does not leave any visible scars. The single, fine incision arisen at the time of single-strip harvest usually heals in few days. And, the small holes (1 to 2 millimetre in diameter) at the FU extraction site takes a bit longer duration but heal on their own without stitching.

Generally, the hair growth starts after 3 to 4 months post operation. In several patients, growth is slower and takes approx. 6 months for hair growth process but no need to worry as it is entirely rational. Another point to take into account here is that grafts falling does not impact hair growth. Lastly, 8 to 10 months are required as a whole to deliver a quality results.
